All you have to do is look at the banner above to know how I feel about moving toward our goals – living into our dreams and all we desire. This month I’ve looked at the people and things in my life that I love and for this final week I want to talk briefly about the dreams that keep me going.

My biggest dreams are around my writing. If you follow me on Instagram (@rona.writes.as.rachel or @rachelkenley) you saw my “bookish bucket list for 2019” and on that list were goals around Fable Notch, my contemporary romance series, and growing my email list. It’s been over eleven years since my first novel was published. I’ve grown and learned so much as a writer and I’m ready to reach more readers. I am working to put my writing in front of bigger publishers and, hopefully later this year, agents as well in an attempt to really boost my career. Yup, I dream of hitting the best seller lists, and I’m willing to do what it takes to get there.

And after I’m making a great income from writing? Then my next dream comes in. I want to buy a big home on the Jersey Shore with at least 5 and preferably 7 bedroom and turn it into a Writers Retreat House with one writer who gets to live there for the year rent free as the caretaker. I think it would be great to take a Bed and Breakfast out of regular commission and turn it into a place where writers can come for any length of time to relax, write, enjoy the ocean, write, eat, connect with other writers, and write. I have loved all of my opportunities to go on writing weekends and it’s a huge desire for me to do this some day.

Some of my dreams aren’t for me. It’s truly a gift to be able to support someone else on their path. Both of my sons have big passions around their dream careers and I cannot begin to describe how amazing it is to do things and be there for them as they step forward. The downside is, of course, the times when I can’t do a thing but let them fly – or fail – on their own, but it’s worth it to be there when I can. I’m also loving being there for a few friends as they go for some special dreams. Cheering someone on, believing in them is a wonderful thing to be able to give.

So, what are your dreams? When the Wizard asks what you want, what will you answer?

What have you learned, Dorothy?

As someone who uses a bullet journal to plan her months, weeks and days, I’ve found it really helpful at the end of the month to go back and look at what worked, what didn’t, what I want to keep doing and what I want to change. Since I have themes for these months, I think it would be good to do it here as well.

This month was about love and what I love in my life, but ultimately, I think it’s become about gratitude because when I look at what I’ve written and the things it make me think about, what I feel most is incredibly grateful for the people, things and dreams I have. I am deeply fortunate to be surrounded by love, to do what I love and to have things that (in the words of Marie Kondo) bring me joy. I am even grateful for the places I struggle because the lessons have always, ultimately, been worth it.

I hope you’ll take the time to look at your life and, even more, I hope you’ll see all the wonder and love that is there for you.
